Daughter-in-law: Let me be there right away, aunty! The milk is boiling in the oven. I will bring it to you within a minute.

மாமியார் - இதெத்தான் அரெ மணி நேரமா சொல்லிக்கிட்டே இருக்கே! இன்னும் ஒரு நிமிஷத்துலெ காப்பி தயார் ஆயிடும்! தயார் ஆயிடும்னு! காப்பி வற மாதிரியே தெரியெலெ!

Mother-in-law: Ya! You have been telling me this for the past half an hour. You are keep telling me that the coffee would be ready in a minute. It doesn't seem that I would get my coffee anytime soon.

மருமகள் - அடுப்புலெ மண்ணெண்னை கொஞ்சம்தான் இருக்கும் போல இருக்கு! அடுப்பு சரியாவே எறியலெ! அதான் கொஞசம் நேரம் ஆயிட்டு!

Daughter-in-law: It sounds like the oven is short of kerosene! The oven is not working right! That's why it has been late!

மாமியார் – அது சரி! அடுப்புலெ மண்ணெண்னெ இல்லெ! சர்க்கரெ தீந்து போச்சுண்ணு ஏதாவது நொண்டிச் சாக்கு சொல்லிகிட்டே இரு! நேத்தே கடைக்குப் போய் மண்ணெண்னை வாங்கிக்கிட்டு வராம என்ன தூங்கிக்கிட்டு இருந்தியா?

மாமியார் – (குடித்துப் பார்த்துவிட்டு). அடி! இது என்ன காப்பி? சக்கரெயே இல்லெ! சூடே இல்லெ! பச்சத் தண்ணி மாதிரி இருக்கு! உனக்கு காப்பிப் போடக் கூட தெரியலெ! உனக்கு என்னதான் ஒழுங்காச் செய்யத் தெரியும்? கடவுளே! ஒன்னெ போயி என் மகனுக்கு கல்யாணம் பண்ணி வச்சேனே!
