மனைவி – ஒண்ணாந் தேதி வந்துதோ இல்லியோ! கைக்கு சம்பளம் வந்துதோ இல்லியோ! பாட்டிலும் கையுமா உக்காந்துட்டா கடங்காரங்களுக்கெல்லாம் யார் பதில் சொல்றது?

Wife: As soon as we reach 1st of the month and as soon as you get your wage, if you start drinking with a bottle of liquor in your hand, who can answer all of the money lenders?

கணவன் - ஒண்ணாந் தேதி வந்துதோ இல்லியோ! கைக்கு சம்பளம் வருது. ஆனா! இரண்டாந் தேதி வந்துதோ இல்லியோ! கைக்கு வந்த சம்பளமெல்லாம் பறந்து போயிடுது! இன்னெக்கி ஒரு நாளாவது குடிச்சிட்டு நிம்மதியா இருக்கலாம்னா! குடிக்காதே! குடிக்காதேண்ணு தொந்தரவு பண்றியே நீ!

Husband: Yes. As soon as we reach to 1st of the month, we get the wage. But, as soon as we reach the second of the month, all we had through the wages simply vanish. If can at least be peaceful just today having consumed some liquor, you keep troubling me by telling me not to drink.

மனைவி – ஆமாம்! ஆமாம்! நான்தான் தொந்தரவு பண்ணிக்கிட்டே இருக்கேன்! நீங்க குடிச்சிக்கிட்டே இருங்க! கடனா வாங்கிக்கிட்டே இருங்க! கடங்காரங்க கடனெத் திருப்பிக் கொடு! திருப்பிக்கொடுண்ணு உயிரெ வாங்கிக்கிட்டே இருக்காங்க.

Wife: Yes! I do keep troubling you all the time! You keep drinking; keep getting loans. The money lenders keep getting into our nerves by asking us to repay the debt.

கணவன் – இந்த மாசம் கடன் வாங்கி போன மாசக் கடனெ கொடுக்கலாம்! அடுத்த மாசத்துக்கு இன்னும் கொஞ்சம் கடன் வாங்கலாம்! ஏன் அனாவசியமா கத்திக்கிட்டே இருக்கே!

Husband: We can get a loan this month and pay back last month's lan. For the next month's expenses, we can get more loans. Why do you keep screaming unnecessarily.

மனைவி – நான் கத்திக்கிட்டே இருக்கேன் நீங்க நிம்மதியா உக்காந்து தண்ணி அடிச்சிக்கிட்டே இருங்க!

கணவன் – நீ என்ன எப்போ நிம்மதியா தண்ணி அடிக்க விட்டே? நான் கையிலெ பாட்டிலெ எடுத்தேனோ இல்லியோ! நீபாட்டுக்கு கத்த ஆரம்பிச்சுடறே! வாழ்க்கையில் நிம்மதி ஏது? என் வாழ்க்கையில் நிம்மதி ஏது?
